ROF Chorley later came under the ownership of British Aerospace, and in subsequent years was closed down with the land being sold.
Euxton |
It is in Buckshaw Village, formerly the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF Chorley) in the village of Euxton, on the site of the four-platform ROF station "halt" that was finally cleared in the early 2000s, having remained virtually intact until the 1970s.
The former Balshaw Lane and Euxton station was reopened in 1998 (the opening ceremony being performed by former Radio 1 DJ and, latterly, Radio Lancashire presenter and transport enthusiast, Andy Peebles), and was now named Euxton Balshaw Lane.
There is a commonality between the appearance of Euxton Parish Church and the oldest parts of neighbouring 14th-century church in Eccleston.
