As well as piloting for A.V. Roe and Martinsyde amongst others, he flew alongside early British flyers like Tommy Sopwith, Harry Hawker, Gordon Bell and Ronald Kemp.

In 1923 Raynham married Margery "Dodie" McPherson in Woking.

His father died in 1895 and the family moved first to Ipswich, then to Ramsgate and finally, in about 1899, to Banbury.
F. P. Raynham's flight of 133 min, made on the Tuesday, then stood as the longest flight but at about 14:30 Maneyrol launched into brisk winds and first exceeded Raynham's time then bettered the current world record of 186 minutes.

Painted red and given the civil registration G-EAPX, it was flown by F. P. Raynham to set a new British speed record of 161.434 mph (259.75 kph) on 21 March 1920 at Martlesham Heath.
