Vale Recreation F.C.

The club is one of the few Channel Islands clubs to have competed in the FA Vase, competing in the four seasons from 1987 to 1991, in 1987/1988 they got to the fourth round, the best ever by a Channel Island club.


Slimbridge

The village's football club, Slimbridge Football Club play in the Western League Premier Division as well as competing in the FA Cup and FA Vase.

Southend Manor F.C.

In 1996–97 the club reached the last 32 of the FA Vase and in May of the same year reached the final of the Anglia TV 5-a-side Tournament held at Norwich.

Western Football League

On four occasions, member clubs have lifted the FA Vase, Tiverton Town twice, Taunton Town once and most recently Truro City, who beat A.F.C. Totton in 2007 at the first final to be held at the new Wembley Stadium before a competition record crowd of 27,754.

The clubs amalgamated as Almondsbury Greenway in 1974 and reached the final of the FA Vase at Wembley Stadium in 1979, where Almondsbury Greenway were beaten by Billericay Town.

It was in the FA Vase that Bowers & Pitsea F.C. achieved their highest ever attendance of 1,800 against a Billericay Town side which featured ex-West Ham United and Charlton Athletic forward Steve Jones.
