Probably the most famous resident of Chacabuco was Daniel Passarella who featured in both of Argentina's FIFA World Cup wins in 1978 and 1986 and went on to manage the national team as well as Uruguay and River Plate.
He was still the first-choice left back for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, playing in all of the matches up to and including the quarter final defeat against Argentina, in which game he was one of the England players left behind by Diego Maradona as he burst from inside his own half to score his second goal.
A stalwart of the Algerian national team during its greatest period on the world stage, he appeared at the 1980 Olympics as well as the FIFA World Cups of 1982 and 1986.
