Born in Titova Mitrovica, Stevanović played club football in Yugoslavia, Spain and Romania for Radnički Niš, Mérida, Rad, Zemun, Universitatea Craiova and BASK.
The club reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals but were beaten by Yugoslavian side Radnički Niš.
He played with Petković in 2001, when they were part of Radnički Niš' squad.

Mitrović began his career at Radnički Niš in 1997/98 but joined the then Eerste Klasse champions Club Brugge the following season.
He spend most of his career playing with Belgrade's club FK Čukarički Stankom but he also played in other Serbian clubs as FK Radnički Niš and FK Voždovac, and also with Hungarian ZTE.
After retiring from playing, Rajković became a coach in FK Radnički Niš youth system.
During his career he played with North York Rockets in the Canadian Soccer League, in 1990-91 with FK Radnički Niš in the Yugoslav First League, and afterwords in Cyprus where he represented Aris Limassol, Anorthosis Famagusta and AEL Limassol.
