In 1989, Fagerdala then acquired Tempur-Pedic technology from NASA using its visco elastic material properties to be made into pressure relieving sleep system mattress.
When NASA released memory foam to the public domain in the early 1980s, Fagerdala World Foams was one of the few companies willing to work with the foam, as the manufacturing process remained difficult and unreliable.
The first Tempur-Pedic mattress was introduced in 1991 by Fagerdala World Foams, a Swedish technical foam firm.
