While touring the African Neptune I saw a mural of King Neptune, holding his trident on his left hand, riding atop his chariot above the waves and guided by his sea-horses.
After AEL was acquired by Farrell Lines in 1978, the ships sailed for a few years before being returned to the Maritime Administration (MARAD).
He and his brother and John J. Farrell eventually became the founders of a shipping company named Farrell Lines Inc.
Afterward, the ship was repaired, and eventually sold in 1948 to the Farrell Lines for commercial use under the name SS African Enterprise.
