2 unusual facts about Femi Fani-Kayode


Babalola Borishade

In June 2008, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Borishade his successor as Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode for their roles in the disbursement of the N19.5bn aviation intervention fund.

He was replaced on 2 November 2006, four days after the crash of an ADC Airlines Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, and moved to the Culture and Tourism ministry, trading positions with Femi Fani-Kayode.

Remi Fani-Kayode

Interestingly 40 years after his murder Aguiyi-Ironsi's son, Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, was to become Nigeria's Minister of Defence and ironically he took over that position from General Theophilus Danjuma, the man that had killed his father 40 years earlier.

After Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon became Nigeria's Head of State, Remilekun Fani-Kayode left Nigeria with his whole family and moved to the seaside resort town of Brighton in south eastern England.

The two of them had five children: Akinola Adedapo Fani-Kayode, Rotimi Fani-Kayode, Femi Fani-Kayode, Mrs. Toyin Bajela and Mrs. Tolu Fanning.

Kayode Adeyemo, whose parents had been immigrants from Nigeria and Barbados, was born and grew up in Crownsville, Maryland.
