Ryanair, EasyJet, Thomsonfly, Bmibaby and Palmair operate from the airport and provide scheduled services to destinations in the UK and Europe.
On 16 November 2010, Simmons competed in a Championship Tournament for Fightstar Sports Entertainment's vacant All-Counties Championship at the Barrington Centre in Ferndown, Dorset.
He later moved closer to home with Schlumberger in Ferndown, and then in 2005 moved to Cobham plc(formally Flight Refuelling ltd.) where he became a Software Team Leader.
