Censorship guidelines for locally produced films were loosened in March 2010, the first revision since 1994, allowing movies with graphic violence and profanity to be screened in local cinemas, some without cuts, such as Sex and the City, Milk, Let the Right One In and I Love You Phillip Morris.

Minimal cuts are applied to some films; such cases can be seen in movies such as Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Saw VI, Chloe, Antichrist and Piranha 3D.
