With the 2013-2014 season, the Finnish mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi became artistic director of the company, and the German conductor Michael Güttler became principal conductor with the company.
His best-known works include his children's operas commissioned by the Finnish National Opera and the Savonlinna Opera Festival: Gaia, Heinähattu, Quiltshoe and the Big Bang ("Vilttitossu ja suuri pamau") and The Seven Dog Brothers ("Seitsemän koiraveljestä").

Besides his job in Apocalyptica he used to work as a musician in a Tapiola Sinfonietta Avanti! and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and in the orchestra of the Finnish National Opera.
Becoming a lecturer at the renowned Sibelius Academy, from 1989–1997, Korhonen taught at numerous conservatories throughout Finland as well as coached for more than twenty years at the Finnish National Opera, the Savonlina Opera Festival, the Zurich Opera and most recently at the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar.
His father is Raimo Sirkiä, a Finnish operatic tenor who sang mainly in Germany and was principal tenor at the Finnish National Opera, former artistic director of the Savonlinna Opera Festival (2002-2007) and recipient of the Order of the Lion of Finland – Pro Finlandia Medal.
