Fischland-Darß-Zingst

During the 1872 Baltic Sea flood, which inundated Prerow on the Darß, the Prerower Strom, that had hitherto separated the island of Zingst from Darß, silted up.

There are six villages on the peninsula - Wustrow, Ahrenshoop, Born, Wieck, Prerow and Zingst.

When the WVHA offices in Berlin were destroyed by Allied bombing on April 16, 1945, the WVHA was moved to Born on Darß in Pomerania on the Baltic sea.
