Several issues came with some notable free gifts, including the flexi single "Black Country Boy"/"Keith Downing's a Punk Rocker" (by regular contributor Bobby Smith) and pinbadges pledging either the reader's support or dislike of then-manager Graham Turner.
Their first release, Where Do You Go?, came in the form of a split flexi disc (with How Many Beans Make Five?) given away free with an issue of a local zine in 1988.
The Soup Dragons: The band formed in Bellshill, Glasgow in 1985 and recorded their first demo tape, You Have Some Too, after playing a few local gigs, and this was followed by a flexi disc single "If You Were the Only Girl in the World".
The first version was published on a Sub Pop audiocassette and the second version was published on a flexi-disc in RAW magazine.
"UK Channel Boredom" is a song by the rock band Manic Street Preachers that appeared as the second song on a 7" flexi-disc given away free with the March 1990 editions of two fanzines, Hopelessly Devoted and Goldmining. The first song on the disc was "I Wonder What the Trouble Is" by Burnley indie band The Laurens (Craig Latham, Tim Nixon, Jon Clarkson, Dan Connolly and Paul Deakin).
