4 unusual facts about Ford GT


Ford GT

During the GT's lifetime, the car was featured on the cover of the video game Gran Turismo 4.

Three GT1 Fords competed in the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans race, with two (the number 70 car run by the Marc VDS Racing Team and the number 61 car run by Matech Concepts) retiring early on.

Saleen Special Vehicles

The building housing this facility was previously a Stanley door-manufacturing facility prior to renovations performed by Saleen to manufacture the Ford GT (which occurred between 2003 and 2006).

Based upon the production rates achieved during the manufacture of the Ford GT, Saleen Special Vehicles is capable of producing as many as 15 complete vehicles per day.


2009 FIA GT Tourist Trophy

It featured the race debut of the Ford GT and the Nissan GT-R in the GT1 category in preparation for their entry in the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Matech Concepts

The company currently partners with Ford Racing to develop the Ford GT sports car for competition, and constructs the FIA GT1 and GT3 versions of the GT at a workshop in Mayen, Germany.

McIntosh Laboratory

A few vehicles are available from the factory with McIntosh sound systems, including Subaru Legacy/Outback models (starting from the BH & BE Legacy chassis's and the 2005–2006 Ford GT.
