As his playing career ended, Johnson got into the entertainment business, as he acted in small roles in many films, including White Men Can't Jump, Love and Action in Chicago, Blue Chips, and Forget Paris.
In addition, his voice talents can be heard in a television advertisement for Dr Pepper, an episode of Sex and the City, and the 1995 Billy Crystal film Forget Paris.
He also provided the commentary for the video game NBA Live 2000 and made cameos in the 2002 films Book of Love, Forget Paris, and Like Mike as a sideline reporter for the fictional NBA franchise, Los Angeles Knights.

They come up with wild advertising slogans, like one for a Greek travel agency that goes: "Forget Paris. The French can be annoying. Come to Greece. We're nicer." And another one called "Come… IN the Bahamas" for that island's national tourism board.
