It is adjacent to the parishes of Kesgrave to the north, Martlesham to the north east, Brightwell to the east, Purdis Heath to the south and the borough of Ipswich to the west.

Foxhall was born to Peter Christopher Foxhall and Glenda Jill "Jill" Foxhall née Pender in 1969, the eldest of four children of that marriage, his father having a son by his first wife.
Robert Hanssen, the former FBI agent who spied for Soviet & Russian intelligence agencies until 2001, had a "dead drop" marker at the utility pole on the corner of Foxhall & Whitehaven, just outside the fence of the reservoir (formerly known as Battery Cameron).
Biographer Alden Hatch collaborated with Foxhall Keene to write James R. Keene's biography titled Full Tilt that was published in 1938 by Derrydale Press.
In his latter years with the CRC, Foxhall became involved with Rainbow Ministries, a non-denominational, non-profit organisation run by Bill and Rosalie Furler (the parents of Newsboys front man Peter Furler) and Michael Spyker.
Former neighborhood residents include the late Calvin and Wilhelmina Rolark, (founder of the United Black Fund and Councilwoman), who lived on Foxhall Place, and country singer/entertainer Roy Clark who grew up on First Street.
Woodyates was the site of the training establishment of William Day, who sent out the winners of many important horse races including Foxhall, winner of the Grand Prix de Paris, Cesarewitch and Cambridgeshire in 1881.
