3 unusual facts about Frank Carpay


Ernest Shufflebotham

In 1948 Shufflebotham was brought to New Zealand by Crown Lynn along with a number of other designers including Frank Carpay to work in the company's 'Specials Department'.

In doing so he joined a number of other artists also using these motifs as artistic inspiration at the time including Theo Schoon, A. R. D. Fairburn, and Gordon Walters.

Carpay established his own small commercial pottery in Tegelen, Het Edele Ambacht, a small manufactory of ceramics, glass, furniture, and metalwork.
