In 1989, Janet Beveridge Bean (of rock band Eleventh Dream Day) and Catherine Irwin founded the band, and they have been supported by several musicians since then, including members of Califone (2005 Thinking of You tour).
The club, led by Jerry Hammack (songwriter, producer, engineer, bass, keys, drums, guitars, vocals) includes a revolving door of members ranging from the top of the rock world - Lenny Kravitz alumni Zoro on drums, Vanessa Paradis and Yanni alumni Osama Afifi on bass, The Handsome Family, Freakwater and Stan Ridgway alumni Steven Dorocke on guitar as well as Swallow and Spike alumni, Rod Moody on guitar and Radio National's Aaron Taylor, also on guitar.
