He was awarded the Ragnar Frisch Medal in 2000 for the article Estimating Labour Supply Responses using Tax Reforms (with Richard Blundell and Alan Duncan) in Econometrica.
He is the co-winner of the Frisch Medal with Kenneth Singleton in 1984, was awarded the Erwin Plein Nemmers Prize in Economics in 2006, and the CME Group-MSRI Prize In Innovative Quantitative Applications in 2008.
The Frisch Medal, so named in his honor, is given every two years for the best paper published in the aforementioned Econometrica in the previous five years.
