At the same time he was also very much interested in music and sports and discovered his love for flying at the Gaisberg near Salzburg.
Ausserleitner holds the hill record in the K-50 hill in Gaisberg, Salzburg with 55 metres (achieved in 1949).
This latter detail was related in a letter of 1943 to The Gramophone magazine signed by F. W. Gaisberg (Fred Gaisberg), a major executive from EMI.
