In August 2009 Galvin hosted Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, Small Business Administration Administrator Karen Mills, Senator Chris Dodd and Representative Rosa DeLauro at his Connecticut Commercial Maintenance shop facility for a discussion of health care reform and business.
Galvin was previously the director of the architecture school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Galvin was the publicity director for the New York-based NORAID, an Irish American group fund-raising organization which raised money for the families of Irish republican prisoners, but was also accused by the American, British, and Irish governments to be a front for the supply of weapons to the Provisional IRA.
