In the early Neolithic (sometimes called the Mesolithic) period, evidence of significant shifts in tool making, settlement patterns, and subsistence living including nascent domestication of both plants and animals, which comes from such important Kurdish sites as Asiab (Asíyaw), Guran, Ganj-e Dareh (Genjí Dara), and Ali Khosh (Elí xosh).
Villages in the district include Ganj Bharasara(a under graduate college also belongs to this village)Majhigawan, Tipa, Thumba and Nawadih.
Saiad Shah Jalal ud din or Ganj Rawan Ganj Baksh (which means "moving treasure'), was born at Khirkan near Bukhara, and established the earliest Islamic mission in the Dakhan about H. 700, or a little before the invasion of 'Alaud din Khilji.
