Gaspar de Verlit

His anthology of Christmas carols was published in 1657 while those by Guillielmus Borremans, singing master at the Saint Gaugericus Church, and by Gaspar, were published in 1660.

Gaugericus

He was born to Roman parents, Gaudentius and Austadiola, at Eposium (present Carignan).

Saint Gaugericus, in French Saint Géry (also known as Gorik, Gau; in Walloon, Djèri) (ca. 550—August 11, ca. 626) was a bishop of Cambrai.

He was buried in the church of Saint Médard, which he had founded at Cambrai.

For a new cathedral he at first chose the former abbey church of Saint-Aubert (formerly known as the église Saint-Géry), preserved but in secular use, then shortly afterwards the church of Saint-Sépulcre, setting up his own base in Saint-Sépulcre's former abbey buildings.
