Sara E. Lister is a United States lawyer who served as General Counsel of the Army under the Carter administration and then as Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) from 1994 to 1997.
In 2001, President of the United States George W. Bush nominated Morello to be the first Native American General Counsel of the Army and, after Senate confirmation, Morello held this post from 2001 until September 2004.

In 1967, he became Assistant General Counsel of the United States Department of the Army, and was promoted to General Counsel of the Army later in 1967, holding that position until 1971.
