Berlin–Potsdam–Magdeburg Railway

On 22 December 1939 the worst railway accident in German history occurred at Genthin station, with 278 people killed and another 453 people seriously injured.

Bernd Dittert

Bernd Dittert (born February 6, 1961 in Genthin) is a retired racing cyclist from East Germany, who won the bronze medal for his native country in the men's 4,000m individual pursuit at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
