She was the daughter of Captain Henry Theodosius Browne Collier (1791–1872), son of Admiral Sir George Collier (1738–1795).
Later that year, the British sent four ships under the command of Sir George Collier that defeated the local militia, destroyed the breastworks, and burned several buildings.
Tryon assembled a force of 2,600 men, and embarked them on a fleet commanded by Sir George Collier.

Commodore Sir George Collier had previously dispatched the HMS Vulture into the Bay of Fundy on rumors of privateering activity there, so he ordered the HMS Hope to locate the Vulture so that she could assist.
