Besides the dominant feature of a temple's architecture comprising the Gopuram, Vimanam and the sanctum, the vision of god descending for his worshippers enhance the attributes of the temple.
Gopuram |
The current temple structure, hall of 1000 pillars, main gopuram(temple gateway tower) and the big compound wall around the temple was built by the king Vijayaraghava Nayak(1532-1575 A.D.).
Subsequently, a Pandi Melam starts, and the procession enters the Peruvanam temple through the western Gopuram.
Besides the dominant feature of a temple's architecture comprising the Gopuram, Vimanam and the sanctum, the temple tree is also considered holy.
The gopuram of the temple was connected by the Hindu savant, Kirupanandha Variyar.
