As a young actor he played the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow’s Gorbals district alongside such future stars as John Cairney and Mary Marquis.
It was recorded and mixed at the Gorbals Sound Studio in Glasgow.
After graduating, he trained to become a teacher at Huddersfield Teachers' Training College and went on to work as a teacher in Lanarkshire for three years before becoming the organiser of the Gorbals Adventure Playground.
