Alongside his partner in the attack, Edin Džeko, who scored 26 goals, he formed the most prolific strike partnership in Bundesliga history, together totalling 54 goals, topping the achievements of Gerd Müller and Uli Hoeneß, who scored 53 goals in the 1971–72 season.

With Wolfsburg he won the national championship in 2008–09, the same season he topped the Bundesliga scorers list and received German Player of the Year honours.
The stadium hosted Wolfsburg's first ever game in the Champions League along with their first win in the UEFA Champions League when Brazilian striker Grafite scored a hat-trick against CSKA Moscow, beating them 3–1, on 15 September 2009.

Three years later, after the family moved to Aclimação, in the south-central part of the city, he made new friends and developed an interest in grafite, a more consciously artistic form.
Born in Mariana, Minas Gerais, Brazil, his career started in 1994 in Brazilian giant São Paulo FC, where he made his formation alongside players like Kaká and Grafite.
