Veronesi began recording operas for Deutsche Grammophon in 2006 working with Plácido Domingo in rarer verismo repertoire such as Puccini’s Edgar and rare Puccini arias and duets, Leoncavallo’s I Medici and La Nuit de mai, and Giordano’s Fedora.
Although Deutsche Grammophon acquired the reputation of releasing mainstream classical recordings, from the 1960s onwards it released an increasing number of avant-garde recordings (initially under the Avant-Garde imprint), including Bruno Maderna, David Bedford, Cornelius Cardew, Luigi Nono and improvisations.

There was nod to the earlier Kunst material though, such as the eerie "Terror über alles" which was a noise-music take on the events of September 11, and "Weena Morlock (Der Grammophon - Song)" which took samples from The Time Machine movie and the beat was entirely composed using a gramophone.
