Myers left the NFL after one year and was hired as line coach at West Virginia University under Greasy Neale.
He led the Eagles to consecutive NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949, and tallied a mark of 66–44–5 including playoff games in his ten seasons with the club.
The next year he won 17 games, and was sent to the Philadelphia Phillies at the end of the season along with Greasy Neale in the same trade that brought Eppa Rixey to Cincinnati.
In 1943 and 1944 he split head coaching duties — with Greasy Neale when the Steelers merged with the Philadelphia Eagles (to form the "Steagles") in 1943 and then with Phil Handler when the Steelers merged with the Chicago Cardinals the following season.
