It is in Great Queen Street between Holborn and Covent Garden and has been a Masonic meeting place since 1775.
There is a pub called "The Prince of Wales" at 45 Great Queen Street, presumably named after the future George IV who was the Grand Master of the Freemasons in 1809.

John Finch, rector of Winwick and brother of the Earl of Nottingham, gave him access to his collection of paintings, and enabled him to study in London at the academy of painting, founded in 1711, in Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields.
In 1718, Chéron and John Vanderbank split from Godfrey Kneller's Great Queen Street Academy (where they were both teaching) to form their own St. Martin's Lane Academy.
He subscribed in 1711 to the Great Queen Street Academy begun under Sir Godfrey Kneller, but seceded from it in 1720 to the St Martin's Lane Academy begun by Louis Chéron and John Vanderbank.
