Appling, Georgia

In 1855, the Courthouse in Appling received a major overhaul, and after the remodeling was complete in 1856, the building was in more or less its present form, a vernacular structure with Greek Revival and Italianate influences.

Penfield, Georgia

Today, the village of Penfield is distinguished by the Greek Revival architecture of Old Mercer Chapel, community churches, town cemetery, and Victorian homes that flourished until 1919 when the prosperity built during the "Cotton Era" was ended by the boll weevil.


Architectural sculpture

The known Greek and Roman examples have been exhaustively studied, and frequently copied or adapted into subsequent neo-classical styles: Greek Revival architecture, usually the most strict; Neoclassical architecture; Beaux-Arts architecture with its exaggerated and romantic free interpretations of the vocabulary, and even Stalinist neo-classical architecture like the Central Moscow Hippodrome adapted to a totalitarian aesthetic.

Astor Place Theatre

Designed in Greek Revival style and fronted by imposing marble columns, the buildings served as residences for the Astor and Vanderbilt families, and are among the oldest structures in the city.

Avenida Santa Fe

The Greek Revivalist Argentine Scientific Society and the Art Deco Regina Theatre follow and, past Avenida Callao, Santa Fe Avenue enters its Recoleta stretch.

Baptist Seminary of Kentucky

Georgetown, located off I-75, is the home of the Toyota Motor Plant; Ward Hall built in 1853 and referred to as the finest example of Greek Revival architecture in the south; the Cardome Centre, former monastery building designed for the Sisters of the Visitation in 1898; and St Francis de Sales Mission, the oldest church in the Diocese of Covington built in 1794.

Branford Center, Connecticut

Architectural styles represented in the Branford Center Historic District include Greek Revival architecture, Queen Anne architecture, and Colonial Revival architecture, Italianate architecture, Federal architecture, Gothic Revival architecture, Second Empire architecture, Colonial architecture, Tudor Revival architecture and Bungalow architecture.

Copperopolis Armory

The brick Greek Revival building was constructed in 1864 to house the Union Guard of Copperopolis, the town's regiment of the Union Army.

Mansfield Center Historic District

It consists of 21 contributing buildings and seven non-contributing buildings with architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries, including examples of Colonial, Greek Revival, and Federal architecture.
