In April 2007, Figley coordinated with the Green Cross the organization's emergency mental health service and counselling response to the Virginia Tech massacre.

Figley is the founder and immediate past president of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.
The support included extra weapons and makeshift transports, such as civilian cars, vans, police vehicles and an ambulance from the Green Cross.

Mera began his professional career in his hometown of Manta playing for Green Cross's youth division.
In 1965 moved to Temuco where they merged with the local football team Deportes Temuco, and since then, they were known as Green Cross Temuco, until 1985 when the club was folded.
In 1983, the television adverts employed a "Green Cross Code" rap based on the hit "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash.
Green Cross Man, played by Prowse, was later to guest in an episode of BBC2's Fantasy Football League – Appearing in a Phoenix from the Flames that featured Gerry Francis.
