On the list of the Green Party, she acceeded to the National Council on May 31, 2005 following the resignation of Fernand Cuche.
In 2007, the Green Party was represented in the governments of the cantons Bern, Basel-City, Geneva (two ministers), Neuchâtel, Nidwalden, Vaud, Zug (two ministers) and Zurich.

The next three most popular parties were the SP (21.8%), the Green Party (14.47%) and the CVP (11.59%).

The second most popular party was the Les Socialistes (with 13.3%), they were fourth in the canton-wide election, while the third most popular party was the Les Verts (with 12.9%), they were second in the canton-wide election.
The opposition Green Party, citing their opposition to the SVP's policies and their representation on the Council, fielded State Councillor Luc Recordon as a candidate of their own.
