The old church gradually fell into ruin, though there are plans to give it a new use, as a bothy on the Greensand Ridge walk.
This stream, the River Lod, runs parallel to the larger River Rother which flows about 10 km further south in the lee of the chalk escarpment of the South Downs.
Lidlington railway station is on the Marston Vale Line which gives good access for walkers along the Greensand Ridge long distance footpath which passes nearby the village.

The Riverhead parkland is part of the former Montreal Park (the remaining part is an estate of detached homes) and offers walks and children's recreation areas traversing the wealden greensand vale of the Darent Valley between Riverhead Infants School and Brittains Lane, Sevenoaks.
