27 November — Frederik Magle's Cantata for choir and chamber orchestra We Are Afraid (Vi er bange) is premiered in Grundtvig's Church, Copenhagen.
Grundtvig's Church in Bispebjerg, Copenhagen, is named after the Danish philosopher and pastor Nikolai Grundtvig, remembered by most Danes for his resounding hymns, now an integral part of the national culture.

In all Grundtvig wrote or translated about 1,500 hymns, including "God's Word Is Our Great Heritage", most of which are still frequently sung today.
One if the first of its kind in Norway, it was founded by Jakob Sverdrup, inspired by Grundtvigianism during his studies, in 1871.
In 1893 a Danish Lutheran minister from Chicago, a follower of Grundtvig, moved with a few families into the town of Hixon north of Withee to form a Danish community and church.
