Ensenada Municipality, Baja California

Located offshore, Guadalupe Island is part of the municipality, making Ensenada the westernmost municipality of Latin America.


California Floristic Province

In Baja California, the province includes the forest and chaparral belts of the Sierra Juarez and the Sierra San Pedro Martir (but excluding their desert slopes to the east), coastal areas south to about El Rosario, and Guadalupe Island.

Gambelia speciosa (Nutt.), commonly known as Showy Island Snapdragon and native to the Channel Islands of California in California and Guadalupe Island, Mexico.

Polystichum munitum

It occurs along the Pacific coast from southwest Washington to southern California, and also inland east to southeastern British Columbia, northern Idaho and western Montana, with isolated populations in interior northern British Columbia, the Black Hills in South Dakota, and on Guadalupe Island off Baja California.

However, if the sightings of tropical beaked whales are taken into account, the range of this whale is more extensive; they have been sighted from the Arabian Sea to Guadalupe Island and the Gulf of California (the sightings off Mexico (in 1992 and 1993) are probably extralimital, as they are associated with abnormally warm water during El Niño events).
