Berio described this species in 1966 as looking very similar to Pandesma anysa Guenée, 1852 as found in Eritrea.
Parides bunichus damocrates (Guenée, 1872) (Argentina, Uruguay) Much paler; the head and palpi are black, and the submarginal spots on the upper surface of the hindwing are not bright red.
A.Guenée also mentioned in his original description that the holotype was in bad shape, and that this species is similar to Thalassodes quadraria with the only notable difference that the front is green, and the last articles of the palpus is longer and white.
