A number of modern placenames in Greenland commemorates Gunnbjørn, most notably Gunnbjørn Fjeld (3,694 m a.s.l.).
It is located in the Watkins Range on the east coast, which contains several other summits above 3500 metres.
Mont Forel is the highest mountain in Greenland that lies outside the area surrounding its absolute highest mountain, Gunnbjørn Fjeld.
The primary peak of the range is Gunnbjørn Fjeld (12,139 ft./3,694 m.), also the highest peak in the Arctic.
