During this time, he led his own quintet, played with the Swedish Radio Jazz Group and the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, accompanying many famous visitors such as Bob Brookmeyer, Bob Mintzer, Jim McNeely, Joe Lovano, Phil Woods, Jimmy Heath, Maria Schneider and John Scofield.

Gustavo Bergalli took part in groups such as Gato Barbieri’s band and he has also performed with Michel Legrand’s Orchestra, over and above being a starting partner of two of Latin America's leading jazz groups, Quinteplus and Buenos Aires Jazz Quartet.
During the 1990'th he also played with great international jazz names such as Philip Catherine, Paquito D'Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Gustavo Bergalli, Phil Woods, Andy Shepherd, Bennie Wallace, Joe Henderson, Maria Schneider, Martial Solal, Diana Krall, Mathias Rüegg and Gianluigi Trovesi.
He toured in the period 1999-2003 together with the trupeter Gustavo Bergalli, within the band «Blix/Bergalli Group» comprising additional Jan Gunnar Hoff (piano), Sigurd Ulveseth (bass) and Magnus Gran (drums).
