Anwyl of Tywyn Family

Robert, the elder brother and the ancestor of the Wynn of Gwydir family sided with Glyndwr but survived the war receiving a Royal Pardon from Henry IV and later by his son Henry V.

Owen Gwyn

He was from Denbighshire, the third son of Griffith Wynn, of the Wynn family of Gwydir.


Bruce Haigh

He stood as an Independent candidate for the federal seat of Gwydir in 2001 and 2004, and Parkes in 2007.

Division of Gwydir

Gwydir was named for the Gwydir River (which in turn was named by the explorer Allan Cunningham after his patron Lord Gwydir, who took his title from Gwydir Castle in Wales).

The Williams-Wynn baronets were an important family of Denbighshire landowners, whose 17th century ancestor had married into the Wynn family of Gwydir, the patrilineal descendants of Owain Gwynedd, Prince of Gwynedd (1137–1170), and in time they became the senior surviving branch of his family.

Tareelaroi Weir

It is used for the mitigation of water from the Gwydir River upstream, between the Gwydir River, which runs through the village of Yarraman and the Mehi River, downstream which runs through the town of Moree.
