Upon his discharge from the army, he pursued his musical studies at The Juilliard School of Music, studying composition with Vincent Persichetti.
The concert included Hall Overton’s arrangements on Monk’s tunes (including a transcription of Monk's piano solo on "Little Rootie Tootie").
