The game is loosely based on the McDonald's fast food franchise and features two kids that venture into the McDonald's fantasy world "McDonaldland" in order to return Ronald McDonald's magical bag, which has been stolen by the Hamburglar.
Based on the McDonald's fast food franchise and four of its corporate mascots from McDonaldland (Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar, Grimace, and Birdie the Early Bird), the game follows the adventures of Ronald McDonald in an attempt to find four pieces of a treasure map, and ultimately, the treasure to which it leads.
Several of Vicini's post Hamburglar credits include Playing the Crypt Keeper in the Tales from the Crypt film Demon Knight, Star Trek: Insurrection.
