Hans Rosbaud

In 1937, he became the general music director of the city of Münster.

A tireless advocate of new music, he was closely associated with Karl Amadeus Hartmann, conducting premiere performances of Hartmann's opera Simplicius Simplicissimus and his Second and Fourth Symphonies, amongst others.


Bernd Scholz

He participated in the 1954 contemporary music festival in Donauschingen where his works were conducted by Hans Rosbaud (the same year when American composer John Cage's appearance became a legendary fiasco).

Gerhard Unger

One of his signature roles was David from Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, which is confirmed by the number of times he recorded the role, including with Herbert von Karajan (1951), Rudolf Kempe (1951 and 1956), Hans Knappertsbusch (1952), Hans Rosbaud (1955), and Rafael Kubelík (1968).

Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra

Subsequently, Hans Rosbaud was hired as the orchestra's first chief conductor.
