HathiTrust was founded in October 2008 by the thirteen universities of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation and the University of California.
He played a central role in creating HathiTrust in 2008 and served as the Executive Director (later Chief Executive Officer) of HathiTrust until 2013.
Authors Guild v. HathiTrust (2012) is a lawsuit in which the American Authors Guild claimed that the HathiTrust digital library had violated copyright.
