In 2004 he got the order of merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and became member of the “wall of fame” of the Heinz Nixdorf Computer Museum.
In 1951 he was first exposed to computer technology whilst working at Remington Rand.

He started building machines for RWE and soon became a contractor to Wanderer-Werke and Compagnie des Machines Bull.
