Voortman Cookies Ltd. was founded by brothers William and Harry Voortman, who emigrated to Canada from their hometown of Hellendoorn, Netherlands, in 1948, with their father, who had operated a bread bakery there.
Herman Ponsteen (born March 27, 1953 in Hellendoorn, Overijssel) is a retired track cyclist from the Netherlands, who represented his native country twice at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1972 (Munich, West Germany).
