Hermeto Pascoal (born 1936), Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist
In 1988 he moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music, where he studied with percussion masters Giovanni Hidalgo and Jesus Alfonso (Los Muñequitos de Matanzas), and performed with such renowned artists as Joe Zawinul, Hermeto Pascoal and Gilberto Gil.
Argüelles has worked with musicians drawn from around the world including Archie Shepp, Tim Berne, Hermeto Pascoal, Steve Swallow, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, Peter Erskine, Chris McGregor, Evan Parker, Mike Gibbs, John Scofield, Carla Bley, Dudu Pukwana, Arturo Sandoval, and Giorgio Gaslini.
He also played with many great artists, including Stevie Wonder, Sérgio Mendes, Sarah Vaughan, Hermeto Pascoal, Nancy Wilson, Egberto Gismonti, Carlos Santana, Milton Nascimento, Ella Fitzgerald, Tom Jobim and Ney Matogrosso.
