In 2001, a reconstituted Hero Games was formed under the leadership of Steven S. Long, who had written several books for the earlier version of the system.
They have also produced artwork for other games including Hero System (Hero Games), Vampire: The Masquerade (White Wolf), and the live-action role-playing game Mind's Eye Theatre (White Wolf).

It can be considered a fairly complex mechanic, but has been used in three games that have enjoyed long-term success, the wargames Star Fleet Battles and Car Wars, and the Hero System role-playing game (also known as Champions or Fantasy Hero).
